But how do you make them faster?
After all, like many soccer coaches, maybe you were told that you can't teach speed. That an athlete is either born with it or they're not, right?
Wrong!
Arguably the biggest myth in all of sports is that you can't coach speed or teach athletes how to run faster or make serious improvements to their agility and change of direction quickness.
Now all the success of the athletes on your team is dependent on learning sport specific skills instead of developing the foundation of success in almost every sport, for every soccer player: SPEED!
Somewhere along the way someone lied to you and told you something that simply isn't true. In fact, more and more people are quickly finding out that the facts are quite the opposite.
You can't afford to keep using the same old excuse that your soccer team just 'isn't fast enough' or that the other team 'has too much speed.'

Most resources that talk about speed development are long boring books filled with painful scientific explanations that just give description after description on the mechanics of punting for distance, advancing the ball and blocking, or have strange looking black and white diagrams of how to do drills.

Teenagers don't want to listen to you even when they know you're right. So if they think you're making things up as you go along now, good luck convincing them otherwise later on.
On the other hand, video programs just don't cover enough information.
Sure one tape might give you some good drills for pass coverages or another gives some decent tips on improving speed, but once you're done watching them you just feel disappointed.
You feel like you're missing an important piece of the puzzle. (It's because you are.)
